Frequently Asked Questions

Starting and Managing a Campaign

  1. Anyone can start a campaign. All you have to do is complete the free registration for a Fundrais-ing Global account and get started!
  2. You can raise money for anything you care about. For example: social causes, a personal chal-lenge, a new business idea or a medical bill. Have a look at the campaigns on our website to see how others are raising money for causes they care about.
  3. Once you upload your campaign it goes through to our site administrators for a review. Within 24 hours of uploading your campaign, it will either be approved and listed on the website, or we will be in touch requesting more information, usually regarding your organization and what you intend to use the funds for. We do not condone campaigns associated with weapons, drug and human trafficking, money laundering, and other illegal activities, so campaigns of that nature are imme-diately rejected.
  4. You can run your campaign for up to 3 months, but from our experience, campaigns which have a timeline of between 4 and 6 weeks are the most successful. This is because, you’re more like-ly to be motivated to run and sustain a campaign awareness campaign for such a relatively short period, and people are more willing to donate if you create a sense of urgency.
  5. Our website has links to Facebook, Twitter so you can make your friends and social media con-nections aware of your fundraising campaign and encourage them to support it with monetary donations or by sharing the campaign with their network.
Did you know your campaign has a unique URL link? You can send this link via email or Whatsapp, a service which past campaign owners have found helpful in sharing their campaign via broadcast messages and also personal messages. Anyone that clicks on the link is immedi-ately directed to your campaign page, and once they click on “Donate” they can support your campaign.
  6. Take a look at some of our tips to running a successful campaign and subscribe to our newslet-ter to receive our free E-book with even more tips.
  7. No, you cannot start a campaign without a bank account. This is because we transfer your funds to you using your bank account.
  8. Yes, you will receive your donations even if you do not reach your target.
  9. Yes, you can. The target is your goal but you can raise more!
  10. No, you do not have to pay back the funds you received from people that donated to your cam-paign. We are a donation-based crowd funding website and we treat donations as grants and not loans. However, you can offer donors perks or incentives to encourage them donate to your campaign. For example, if you are raising money to build a school in your community, you can offer people that donate a certain amount the opportunity to have their names on the school wall, or to have a classroom building named after them.
Offering relevant and attractive incentives can help you raise more money but it is for you to de-cide.
  11. You can upload as many different fundraising campaigns as you want to our website, but you can only have a maximum of two campaigns on our website at a time. Sharing and promoting a crowd funding campaign to make it successful requires a lot of resources including time and money, which is why we have limited the number of active campaigns any one fundraiser can have.
  12. For now we are operational in Ghana and Pakistan but we are planning to expand to other countries soon.

You can generate this code by clicking on the “Pay Cash at Partner Bank” option on the campaign donation page. You then enter the amount you wish to donate into the “Amount” sec-tion and then click on “Generate OTC.” Enter your e-mail address with which you would like to receive your OTC and then click on “Generate OTC” to submit.
You will receive an email with the information you will need to complete the bank deposit form. You can visit any Access Bank, First Atlantic Bank, Unibank, Energy Bank, or The Royal Bank branch to make your donation via cash.

Complete the steps below at the bank to make your cash donation:
    • Pick up a deposit form at the bank
    • Complete the deposit form with the following details: Account Name - Interpay, Account Number - OTC and Campaign Code
    • Hand over the deposit form and cash donation to the teller
  3. If you want to donate with your Visa or Master card, please make sure your card is registered for online transactions. If not, you have to contact your bank to request that your Visa card is “Veri-fied by Visa” (VbyV) or your MasterCard is MasterCard Secure so you can use it for online payments. You only have to do this once, and after doing this, you can make online payments everywhere in the world.
  4. For the duration of your campaign we will transfer your donations to you every week provided the balance is at least one hundred Ghana (100) cedis. If your campaign has a balance by the time it is complete, that balance will also be transferred to you. Unfortunately we cannot guaran-tee when you will receive your donated funds after we have initiated the money transfer. De-pending on your bank, it may take up to 48 business hours for your campaign’s bank account to be credited.
  5. No, you cannot receive funds to your mobile money account. Currently, fundraisers can only receive donations through bank accounts that are registered for the campaign.
  6. You will receive an email notification for every donation that you receive with the details that the fundraiser has provided. Additionally, you can view your donation history once you are logged on to the website. Although our system sends an automated thank you e-mail to every donor, it doesn't hurt if they get another personal thank you from you.
  7. You can print out and distribute your fundraising campaign page (complete with your campaign title, image, and descriptions). Potential donors who receive the fliers can donate whether or not they have bank accounts or are computer literate via cash or Mobile Money.
  8. Yes, they can. They can choose to be "anonymous" when they donate by checking the "anony-mous" box on the campaign donation page. The e-mail to the campaign owner about the dona-tion as well as the donation history (only accessible to the fundraiser) will not contain the donor's information.
  9. No, they will not be charged. The 5% charge on each donation is not absorbed by the donor but rather deducted from the donation.
  10. Fundraising Global uses Interpay, an online payment provider, to process donations. Interpay makes it easy to make and receive payments. The service is integrated with Visa and Master-card, GHLink, 16 banks in Ghana, and all Mobile Money platforms.
  11. Donations can be made in cedis and in every international currency and the donated amount will be converted to cedis. For example, if you receive a donation from a dollar account, GT Bank (which regulates Visa and MasterCard transactions in Ghana) will make the cedi conversion. As soon as we are also operational in other countries, we can support more local currencies.

Safety & Security

  1. Our website has a secure server, which is donated by the “https” preface to its web address and the padlock attached to the web address. Https is a protocol for secure communication over a computer network which is widely used on the Internet. It provides authentication of the website and associated web server with which one is communicating, which protects against man-in-the-middle attacks. In addition to this https protection, data is not stored on the Fundraising Global website server but in a remote site. See for more information in our privacy policy.
Our payment processing partner, Interpay, uses a secure platform to transfer donated funds to the fundraiser. Interpay works with the banks to ensure that donations and transfers to the cam-paign owner are done safely and securely.
  2. Local and international transactions using Visa and Mastercard are directed to the respective payment interfaces where you can enter your details, undergo their security procedures, and make your payment.
  3. We require that fundraising campaigns for organizations use the organization's bank account for campaign set up and also to receive donations. We also require organizations raising funds to provide us with their Tax Identification Number (TIN), which we then verify on our end. If we suspect that the funds raised are used for a different cause than is stated on the campaign, we can do a random check of the campaign. We cannot 100% guarantee that that the information displayed in the campaign is accurate or truthful or that the donated funds are used for the pur-pose stated and for this reason, we strongly recommend you only donate to people you know or to a campaign you trust.
  4. All Fundraising Global technical team members have undergone Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) training in anti-money laundering, consumer due diligence, and suspicious activity report-ing. There have been no cases of money laundering on our website. We work closely with our partner banks to detect and monitor any suspicious transaction and conduct investigations to-gether before we transfer the money to any bank account.
